ADVOCACY

BART NEEDS YOU!

BART's Accessibility Task Force (BATF) advises BART's Board and Staff on ways to make BART safer and user-friendlier for persons with disabilities and for seniors. The 18 member Task Force represents the great variety of disabilities of persons using BART, including persons in wheelchairs, those who do not speak, and others who are blind or deaf or hard of hearing.

The Task Force meets the 4th Thursday of each month from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. at 101 8th Street, MetroCenter, Room 171, Oakland, CA.

Fully accessible via BART and AC Transit bus. The meeting room is equipped with an assistive listening system and captioning is provided.

In addition to regular meetings, the Task Force visits and makes recommendations on the accessibility of stations with new equipment (such as accessible fare gates). The Task Force works with staff to offer orientation to BART for groups with disabilities and to seniors. Members of the Task Force participate in the training of new Station Agents.
